Yogi declared three days of state mourning after Mulayam’s death

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has condoled the death of former Prime Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and declared three days of mourning in the state as a mark of respect.

The last rites of the departed leader will be performed with full state honours.

Yogi Adityanath also spoke to Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav and SP MP Prof Ram Gopal Yadav over phone.

He said in a statement that the death of Mulayam Singh Yadav marks the end of an era of leaders who believed in struggle and socialist ideology.

UP spokesperson Satish Mahana also expressed grief over the death of the veteran leader.

Senior Samajwadi Party leader and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav has died at the age of 82, Akhilesh Yadav has confirmed.

He was undergoing treatment at Gurugram’s Medanta Hospital since last week.

Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav, who is in the intensive care unit of a hospital in Gurugram, is “quite critical”, the hospital said on Sunday.

Medanta Hospital said he was on life-saving medication and was being treated in the intensive care unit by an “extensive team of specialists”.

The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister was admitted to the hospital for treatment and shifted to the intensive care unit when his condition worsened.

According to hospital sources, he breathed his last at 8.15 am on Monday. His son and former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav tweeted about his death.
