Neil Patrick Harris’ new comedy series has been on Netflix for over a month. It sees the actor return to a format that made his career what it is today. Unrelated a short 8 episodes can be watched at once, so if you’ve already binged and are looking for season 2 news, here’s what we know.
The series is helmed by Geoffrey Richman and Darren Starr, the latter behind another Netflix giant in the form of Emily in Paris. Before that, Starr was best known for his work Sex and the city, Melrose Place, and Younger.
Eight episodes of the comedy appeared on Netflix on July 29, 2022, which follows a man living in New York who must reinvent his life after a long-term relationship suddenly ends.

After a month on the service, Netflix has yet to officially announce whether the show will return for a second season.
As time goes on, the show will be less and less likely to be renewed and will almost certainly be renewed or canceled based on its stats.
On the review side, it was mostly liked by the audience and critics. It currently has a 77% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes, a 74% audience score on RT, and a 7.0/10 on IMDb.
Given the show’s lukewarm performance thus far (more on that below), we’re currently 50/50 on the future of the show. It has one of the best chances of any current crop of newly hatched comedy series to be renewed, but given Netflix’s track record in the space, it may not have the numbers it needs to justify a future season.
How well is Uncoupled doing on Netflix?
The series failed to enter Netflix’s global top 10 hourly charts in its first three days on the platform. It’s not necessarily the end of the world, but it shows that it hasn’t hit rock bottom.
Unconnected it would need more than 20.17 million hours of viewing worldwide to rank between July 25 and July 31, ahead of the second season of Strange things.
The show appeared in Netflix’s global top 10 for a week between July 31 and August 7. It collected 26.52 million hours and ranked 6th that week. He dropped out the following week, where he would have needed 18.07 million hours to qualify.

The key to a show like this will undoubtedly be the finishing stats. This is where Netflix measures the percentage of people who start the show finish. This is a stat that many (including us) recognize as one of the most important for getting renewals.
The raw top 10 data provided by FlixPatrol seems to suggest that the show got off to a solid start but fell out of the top 10 after about 2-3 weeks.
A heat map (also provided by FlixPatrol) shows where the show performed the most in the top 10. As expected, the show performed well in the Anglosphere, consistently featuring for several weeks in places like the US, Canada, Ireland, the UK and Australia. It also performed well in Eastern Europe and Iceland.

According to TelevisionStats.com – the show soared to become the 6th most popular show in the world on August 3rd (4 days after its launch), but has since plummeted. In fact, just a month later, it fell to #214, suggesting that the show may not have the staying power.
What to expect from Uncoupled Season 2 on Netflix
If the show gets renewed, we already have a pretty good idea of where we’re headed.
At the end of the season, we saw Michael come home to hear that Colin had actually revisited the breakup that caused all the trouble in the first place. Will Michael consider giving their 17-year relationship another shot?
Elsewhere, Stanley is diagnosed with stage one breast cancer and must undergo treatment. Kai’s father is still a big question mark, given that Kai bailed out of a meeting at the last minute.
Also, thanks to an interview with TVLine, they gave us some key plot threads about where we might be headed in season 2. Darren Starr said in the outlet “that he expects a lot of friction in the writers’ room about how to proceed.”
