Twitter is working on a ‘verified phone number’ tag: Report

Over the past couple of weeks, Twitter has managed to stay in the spotlight for all sorts of reasons. Despite the battle between Elon Musk and Twitter, the developers are working to introduce new features. As it turns out, social media may soon carry a “verified phone number” tag on the phone numbers of verified user profiles.

According to the researcher of the app Jane Manchun Wong, Twitter may soon display a small label or tag that says “verified phone number”. The tag will be visible under the user profile and will only be shown to those who have a blue check mark on their profile.

The researcher also revealed that Twitter may soon show the “number of views” for each Tweet. But it is not yet clear whether it will be visible only to the author or to everyone.

Interestingly, Twitter allows users to associate up to 10 accounts with a single phone number. Additionally, developers can now tag automated accounts so users know if the post was automated or if there was a human behind it.

It appears that Twitter wants users to verify both their phone numbers and email IDs. But this may not be a good idea after a recent report Bleeping Computer revealed that a hacker would sell the Twitter account data of over 5.4 million users for just $ 30,000. Thankfully, Twitter has security problem solved and said he would soon warn those affected by the information leak.

Recently, Twitter came under fire after voting rights pundits claimed social media wasn’t doing enough to combat disinformation during mid-term elections.

In other news, in the Twitter vs Elon Musk case, Judge Kathaleen St. J. McCormick ruled that Twitter will only have to hand over data from a bot checker, who appears to be the company’s former licensed product manager.
