Project Cars and Project Cars 2 disappear from online stores

Both Project Cars and Project Cars 2 will be removed from online stores in the coming months. It was confirmed by developer Slightly Mad Studios and publisher EA this week.

In a Twitter message, the parties explain that the licenses for both cars and circuits are about to expire. Therefore, Project Cars 2 will disappear on September 21st, while its predecessor Project Cars will disappear on October 3rd.

Both games will still be playable if you own them. All content and features will also remain, including the multiplayer part. Project Cars 3, originally released in 2020, will not be affected by expiring licenses.

Otherwise, Slightly Mad recalled that he is still working on his next game. The team has not yet shared any details on the project, but promises to say more “when the time comes”.

Slightly Mad Studios was also acquired by Codemasters in 2019, which in turn was acquired by EA the following year. The latter now holds the rights to a large share of the car game genre, including F1, Dirt, Grid, Project Cars, Need for Speed, Burnout and Real Racing.
