‘Mo’ Season 2: Netflix Renewed or Cancelled?

The brand new Netflix comedy series from A24 TV, mo, recently appeared on the service, but will it return for Season 2? We’ll review his odds below.

Created by Mohamed “Mo” Amer and Rami Youssef, the series stars Amer himself, Teresa Ruiz (Narco: Mexico) and Omar Elba (Limetown).

The story focuses on a Palestinian refugee living in Houston who does whatever it takes to keep his head above water as he crosses the line of life one step away from asylum on the path to American citizenship.

The show has become one of Netflix‘s best-reviewed new originals, especially in the comedy department, where Netflix has struggled in recent years. In fact, as of this writing, Netflix has yet to renew any of its new comedy series for 2022. Murderville, Hard Cell, The pentaverate, God’s favorite idiotand Unconnected all waiting for renewal.

As of this writing, it has a 100% score on RottenTomatoes, but hasn’t had enough reviews to warrant the Certified Fresh rating that most shows strive for.

According to audience data, it has a 91% on RottenTomatoes, and on IMDb the series has a 7.4/10.

Mo Amer has already jokingly mentioned a second season in an interview, and the series is ripe for more stories to come out of Houston in the future.

But will it be renewed? Well, as you probably already know, Netflix renewals are complicated, but there are a few big things to watch out for.

His stats would end up being the reason Netflix renewed the show. As we’ve discussed before, things like how many people start the show, how many continue to finish (this is increasingly important), and other factors contribute to whether a show is renewed or canceled.

So how well is the show doing on Netflix?

The show failed to crack the global top 10 in its first week on the service, according to Netflix’s top 10 site.

The raw top 10 provided by FlixPatrol indicates that the series has climbed the charts in some of Netflix’s MENA regions such as Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

The show has also been shown in both the United States and Canada since its launch.

According to IMDb Moviemeter, the show was the 103rd most popular title worldwide in its debut week.

Meanwhile, the show climbed to the 71st most popular show in the world on August 29, 2022, according to TelevisionStats.com, which takes data from places like Google search, Wikipedia and other sources to determine its score.

So far, it would be fair to say that the show has made a modest impression in its first week on the platform, but we’ll be tracking this over time to see how it changes.
