West Ham had a late approach for Aaron Wan-Bissaka turned down by Manchester United, with Erik ten Hag keen to keep hold of the right-back.

David Moyes is looking to add another right-back to his squad and saw the out-of-favour Red Devils man as an ideal option to compete with Vladimir Kufal.

However, despite Wan-Bissaka being out of the starting XI at Old Trafford, United want to have two players in each position and he will stay to provide back-up to Diogo Dalot.

The 23-year-old Portuguese has started all four Premier League games under Ten Hag so far and certainly poses more of an attacking threat than Wan-Bissaka at full-back.

However, the Ten Hag spoke positively of the Englishman, saying he hasn’t had much of a chance yet as he was injured in the summer, but he likes what he’s seen and heard so far.

“Aaron has shown in the past that he is a constant factor at United,” Ten Haag told a press conference on Wednesday. “I trust him.”

“I haven’t seen him that much because he was injured in the pre-season. From what I’ve heard, he’s a good option. He has worked out and should compete for the position.

Wan-Bissaka enjoyed two seasons as United’s first-choice right-back before falling out of favor last campaign.

He has made just one brief appearance so far this season, coming on for the last few minutes of the win over Liverpool.

With the Red Devils building momentum after two wins on the bounce and Dalot scoring the only goal of the game in the win over Southampton last time out, he won’t be losing his place in the team anytime soon.
