Kwasi Kwarteng, Suella Braverman and Jacob Rees-Mogg lined up for senior roles in Liz Truss’ cabinet

Liz Truss has already started planning her cabinet so she can get to work if she is appointed Prime Minister.

She has holed herself up in Chevening, her noble home in Kent, considering potential members.

Among those set to play key roles is Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng, who is likely to be her chancellor. The pair share a political philosophy and also a street, being neighbors in south-east London.

Chris Philp, the former justice secretary, is set to become chief secretary to the Treasury, according to The Telegraph.

Attorney General Suella Braverman is expected to be Home Secretary, replacing Priti Patel. The former leadership contender is understood to have discussed her plans for the brief with Ms Truss.

Brexit efficiency minister Jacob Rees-Mogg has emerged as the front-runner for business secretary after helping to coordinate meetings with oil and gas companies on the energy crisis.

James Cleverley is said to be in the running to succeed Ms Truss as foreign secretary, a step up from his current role as foreign secretary.

Leadership challenger Kemi Badenoch is likely to be given a large portfolio after a strong showing in the race – possibly in education.

Although she did not officially name Ms Truss, the foreign secretary indicated she would be given a key job.

Chief Secretary to the Treasury Simon Clarke has been one of Ms Truss’s staunchest supporters and is likely to be rewarded with a top job, possibly as promotion secretary.

Work and Pensions Secretary Therese Coffey – another close ally – could be the next health minister.

Ben Wallace is likely to stay on as defense secretary after declaring for Ms Truss and his strong support for Ukraine.

Nadine Dorries was tipped to stay on as Culture Secretary, either as an MP or by the Lords.

The foreign secretary is said to favor a female chief whip following the fallout with Chris Pincher, the former deputy chief whip, who quit after claims – denied by him – that he groped two men.

Former Northern Ireland Secretary Brandon Lewis is reportedly set to become Justice Secretary.

Nadhim Zahawi, the current Chancellor, was elected Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster.

Ms Patel will be offered a new role, Dominic Raab, the current justice minister and deputy prime minister, is likely to be ousted, and former health secretary Sajid Javid may not have a prominent role.

It comes as The Times reported that Grant Shapps, the transport secretary, did not want to become party chairman.

The paper claims that Penny Mordaunt also turned down the post Shapps held under David Cameron.
