KODI GAKPO has taken a hit at Manchester United after failing to secure a transfer there from PSV.
The 23-year-old was the subject of interest from a number of Premier League clubs at the end of the window.
Manchester United explored signing him when a deal for Ajax striker Antony proved difficult and now the star has admitted he thought he was ready for Old Trafford.
The Dutchman said: “At the start of the window, United reported ‘very calm’. That’s what we were waiting for.
“It was getting closer and the signals were getting more and more positive.
“Then you think: It could go down like this. But eventually that option faded a bit, just last week in fact.
