Aave Pushes for Proposal to Support Ethereum PoS Exclusively

The Merge continues to be one of the most high-profile updates of recent times. But the retaliation is strong and has gained many allies. Opponents continue to reiterate their push for Ethereum to undergo a “hard fork” after it morphs into a proof-of-stake (PoS) blockchain over the next few months.

Despite this, many protocols are trying to switch exclusively to the PoS version. One of them is Aave.

Aave’s proposal

According to its latest proposal, members of the DAO governing the open source liquidity protocol – Aave DAO – should review whether to head for the new version of the Ethereum core network and reject any fork versions that continue to use the PoW consensus mechanism. In short, the Aave protocol will be closed on any forks resulting from the Merger.

The proposal said

“There is a general consensus from the builders involved in the development of the protocol that it is effectively impossible to sustain a viable Aave market on any fork of Ethereum that performs an alternative consensus (such as Proof of Work).

To ensure the continued existence of the protocol for the community, the Aave DAO should consider strongly signaling that the Aave protocol should engage in the core Ethereum network, running under the consent of the Proof of Stake. “

Proponents of Ethereum PoW

Although the transition will involve delegating tasks to validators rather than miners to reduce the energy use of the blockchain, many miners are not happy with it. The opposition frontman is a well-known Chinese Ethereum miner Chandler Guo who is now organizing his colleagues to support his effort to “save” them from having to shut down their operations.

Supporting his effort is Tron’s controversial founder Justin Sun and his exchange Poloniex, as well as the BitMEX derivatives platform.

On the other side of the field are – the stablecoin issuer Circle, as well as the decentralized blockchain oracle network, Chainlink – which has announced support for Ethereum’s move to a POS chain.

The Twitter account of the proposed chain split fork – EthereumPoW – published an open letter on August 10 specifying that the new token will not be pre-mined and there will be no inflation. They accused the Ethereum “elites” of suppressing the voice of miners and forcing others to cooperate easily. It intends to focus on the abolition of EIP-1559, while maintaining PoW and the Nakamoto consensus mechanism for the foreseeable future.
