Love Is Blind fans are upset that none of the couples from the Netflix show’s second season are still together. But there was one couple whose split surprised everyone the most.
In case you forgot, Daniel Rule, 29, and Nick Thompson, 36, met on the second season of the dating show and even got married. In the show, the contestants get to know each other in separate groups and even get engaged before they meet face to face. Viewers believed the two would still be together months later due to their appearance at the Love is Blind reunion in March. This fact made fans believe that they are still together.
This week, Netflix released all three special episodes that are part of Love Is Blind, which are as follows: After the ceremony at the altar, there will be a “catch-up” that will update viewers on the couples’ current status.
On August 21, just days before the premiere of the first trailer for After the Altar, the news that Danielle and Nick were divorcing hit the internet, much to the dismay of many fans.
Notably, Danielle reportedly filed for divorce from Nick shortly after the couple celebrated their first wedding anniversary last June. This event happened after the two recorded the episodes of After the Altar.
It should be clarified that although Nick and Danielle are seen together in the recently aired episodes of Love is Blind: After the Altar, the couple ended their relationship about a month ago after filming had already taken place.
Why did Nick and Danielle break up?
Neither Nick nor Danielle have made a public statement about why they decided to end their marriage. Despite posting photos of herself laughing and having fun with her friends, Danielle has reportedly been “struggling behind the scenes.”
Fans took particular notice of her demeanor, with many noting that the Netflix star looked cheerful despite the love blunder. Daniel responded to his detractors in a series of posts on several social media platforms.
“It’s funny when people are like, ‘How are you so happy?'” Danielle said in an Instagram Story video. “Would you rather I live on Instagram crying for eight hours straight because I can do that if you want [me] too! This is my reality.”
Danielle said in another Instagram Story post: “If you’d rather I sit here and post stories sobbing, I could easily do that. This is what I spend most of my days doing. But I cry all the time. I cry easily. I cry when I’m happy, I cry when I’m sad. But who wants to see that? Come on.”
When viewed in conjunction with Danielle’s recent statements, the news that the couple have split makes one feel an even deeper sense of loss.
“I can’t wait to have kids so they can beat the living lights out of Nick and them. “I can’t wait,” commented Daniel about the summer that just passed. “However, considering how quickly we got married, there’s no chance of that happening in the next two years.” Maybe after that, but for now we want to concentrate on getting to know each other better.
The Netflix reality personality even discussed the possibility of a second wedding ceremony in July of this year.
