Video shows the moment a car bomb detonates a ‘traitor’ in Russian-occupied Ukraine

Dramatic surveillance footage released Saturday shows the car bomb blast that killed a “traitor” security official in occupied eastern Ukraine earlier this month.

Askyar Laishev, a former Ukrainian security official who joined the Russian-backed Luhansk People’s Republic as intelligence chief in 2014, was killed by Ukrainian resistance forces in the Donbass on August 11.

Laishev managed to get out of his car after the powerful blast, but died in hospital a few days later, according to the National Resistance of Ukraine in the region.

Footage from security cameras captured the powerful explosion of the car.

“We emphasize once again that collaborationism is harmful to your health, so every traitor has vain hopes that retribution will not befall him,” the National Resistance said in a statement.

Recently released surveillance footage shows Laishev’s car being blown up on Shevchenko Street, in the town of Starobisk, in Russian-controlled Luhansk, which fell under Russian occupation last month.
