It’s only been a few weeks since Samsung released the One UI 5 (Android 13) beta for its flagship Galaxy S22 series. However, reports suggest that the company is already expanding the beta program to Galaxy S21 owners in some countries.
Two reports from SamMobile indicate that users in South Korea and the UK are already receiving the beta version on their Galaxy S21 devices.
This update gives users a glimpse of Android 13 and includes a range of features and improvements for Samsung devices. This includes a changed notification shade, expanded UI theming color palette, app language settings and notification permissions, privacy, security and accessibility improvements and much more.
A second beta for the Galaxy S22 series was recently launched with additional features such as a smart offers widget. This also marked the beginning of the UK and India program for the S22 series. It is expected that there should not be much difference in software between Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S22, so users can probably expect a similar experience.
According to SamMobile, the UK update includes a build G99xBXXU5ZVHE and comes with almost 2GB. Knowing Samsung, the program should expand to other regions soon.
To enroll in the beta, open the Samsung Members app and find the related banner or open the Notifications section (bell icon). Once you’ve registered your device, head over to the software update section in your phone’s settings and the update should be waiting for you.
Note that this is beta software, so bugs are likely. It is not recommended to install the beta version of your daily driver, so try at your own risk.
Android 13 stable is expected to start arriving on Galaxy smartphones later this year, but until then we expect Samsung to expand its beta program to more of its top Android phones in the coming weeks.
The Galaxy S22 is Samsung’s latest standard flagship offering a simple design, great specs and very powerful cameras. It comes in several different colors, including the new Bora Purple, and is among the first Galaxy phones to get access to the Android 13 beta.
