Soldier, 2 civilians injured in encounter in J&K’s Kulgam

Srinagar: A soldier and two civilians were injured in an ongoing encounter between terrorists and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday, police said.

“One army soldier and two civilians were injured in the ongoing encounter. All three victims have been hospitalized for treatment. The operation is underway,” the police said.

The gunfight in Kulgam’s Batpora area began after a joint team of police and security forces received information about the presence of terrorists in that area.

After the security forces cordoned off the area, the terrorists hiding there started firing, provoking retaliation from the security forces.

In the recent past, there have been a series of encounters between terrorists and security forces across Kashmir in which many terrorists have been eliminated.
