The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have adopted a new rescue dog.

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, welcomed a seven-year-old beagle named Momma Mia who was rescued from a US herd owned by an animal research company last month and the couple were praised for having opted for an older dog rather than a puppy.

Animal rights attorney Shannon Keith, who helps run the Beagle Freedom Project, told People.com: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are the most loving, sensitive and caring adopters I’ve ever had. were so honored that they supported the Beagle Freedom Project and chose to adopt a dog that had been mistreated.

Shannon later revealed that she received a personal phone call from Meghan asking her to adopt a beagle – but mistook her for another actress – Megan Fox – and it took her half an hour to complete the mistake.
