It’s set to arrive on Netflix in Fall 2022. Wednesday is the new family series based on Adams Family. Below is our full review of the new series, with everything else you need to know about following Wednesdayincluding the plot, production updates, casting news, and the Netflix release date.
Wednesday is an upcoming Netflix Original family fantasy show directed by the legendary Tim Burton. Netflix won the bidding war for the show, beating out all of its competitors to win exclusive global distribution rights. What’s on Netflix was among the first to report that the spin-off would target Netflix.
The creators of the series are Al Gough and Miles Miller.
It has already been announced that MGM TV is the production studio behind the development of the Wednesday, with Burton on board as executive producer along with directing duties. Burton is joined by John Glickman, Andrew Mittman and Gail Berman as co-producers on the original.
The release of Wednesday will mark a special occasion in Tim Burton’s career as the show will be his television directorial debut.

Wednesday Adams has misadventures as a student at Nevermore Academy: a very unique boarding school nestled in deepest New England.
Wednesday attempts to master her emerging psychic abilities, thwart a monstrous murder terrorizing the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that entangled her parents 25 years ago—all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships in Nevermore.

After being kicked out of eight schools in five years, Willa, aka Wednesday Adams, begins a new chapter in her life at the academy, the two-century-old boarding school attended by her parents. However, Willa wants nothing to do with their alma mater and is already planning her escape. But this academy is unlike any other school she has ever attended. It is an outcast school with four main cliques, the Fangs (vampires), the Furs (werewolves), the Libras (sirens), and the Stoners. It is also part of the mystery that holds dark secrets about her family’s past.

The role of Wednesday Adams was finally revealed. Taking on the iconic role is Jenna Ortega, who Netflix subscribers should recognize by now.

Ortega has starred in numerous Netflix originals. She is most recognizable for her role as Ellie in the second season of YouPhoebe c The Babysitter: The Assassin Queenand Katie Torres c Yes day. She is also the voice of Brooklyn in the popular animated series Jurassic World. Camp Creta.
Outside of Netflix, Ortega has also starred in popular titles such as Disney’s Elena of AvalorCW’s Jane the Virginand the MCU movie Iron Man 3.

In an exciting turn of events, former Addams Family and Wednesday Addams actress Christina Ricci has joined the cast of Wednesday! It’s currently unknown what role Richie has been cast, but we can confirm that she won’t be playing an older version of Wednesday Adams.

Who is in the rest of the cast?
It took a little longer than expected, but we finally have our Morticia and Gomez Addams thrown into Wednesday! Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones will take on the iconic role of Morticia Adams, and Luis Guzman will play her on-screen husband Gomez Adams.
The rest of the main and supporting cast are also included in the Wednesday series.

The students
Emma Meyers is cast as Enid Sinclair, a werewolf with a sunny disposition and Willa’s roommate (Wednesday). The complete opposite of Willa, Enid complemented the school’s purple uniform with bright colorful accessories.
Hunter Doohan is cast as Tyler Galpin, a smart and sensitive young man who suffers from his dysfunctional relationship with his father, the town’s sheriff. Tyler is human and works part-time at the local coffee shop and aims to leave town for good when he graduates from high school.
Percy Hines White is cast as Xavier Thorpea young man of wealth and privilege who is infatuated with Willa.
Happy Sunday is cast as Bianca Barclay, a siren who is looked upon as school royalty and her attitude shows it. Bianca is constantly at odds with Willa, but beneath her grand exterior is a woman whose life has been far from easy.
The adults
Gwendoline Christie is cast as Principal Larissa Weems, who constantly clashes with Willa as she considers her to be nothing more than a troublemaker. She comes across as warm and welcoming, but hides her true feelings as a skilled diplomat.
Ricky Lindhome is cast as Dr. Valerie Kinbot, an eccentric occupational therapist who takes a keen interest in his latest patient, Willa. Thoughtful and insightful, Dr. Kinbot also enjoys vehicle refinishing, Diptyque candles, and cashmere ponchos.
Jamie McShane is cast as Sheriff Donavan Galpin, a single father to teenage daughter Tyler. Time took its toll on the sheriff, turning him into a cynical and disillusioned man, often causing him to be abusive towards his son. When a series of murders occur near the academy, he becomes obsessed with the idea of connecting the grizzly murders to the school.
Thora Birch is cast as Mrs. Tamara Novak, the only human teacher at the academy. Smart, quirky and insightful, Tamara teaches AP Bio and finds herself especially connected to Willa.
What is the production status of Wednesday?

Principal photography on the project began in September 2021 and took place in Romania.
Filming took place throughout the fall and winter before finally wrapping on February 10, 2022.
What is the number of episodes for Wednesday?
It has already been confirmed that the first season of Wednesday there will be a total of eight episodes.
The duration of each episode is approximately 60 minutes.
Well Wednesday limited edition?
It remains unclear if Netflix will only get one season of Wednesday.
There is no doubt about it Wednesday will be hugely popular with subscribers and will likely be one of the biggest originals released on Netflix since Strange things, The Umbrella Academyand The Witcher.
The idea for a second season will likely rest largely in the hands of Tim Burton, who helms the series as showrunner, director and executive producer.
