More charges following NT girl’s abduction

Another person was charged with the alleged kidnapping of a five-year-old girl in the Northern Territory.

On Thursday, police arrested a 50-year-old woman after searching a property in Darwin, where an electronic device was discovered and seized.

She was later accused of threatening a police officer involved in the investigation into the girl’s disappearance last month.

The woman is also accused of attempting to pervert justice and was jailed on Friday to appear before the local NT court in Darwin.

“Threats made against our officers in fulfilling their duty to protect and serve the community will not be tolerated,” said Acting Detective Sergeant Jon Beer.

The five-year-old was reportedly kidnapped on August 7 and went missing for nearly two weeks before being dropped off at the police station on August 19.

Five people were accused of kidnapping the girl, including four women aged 35, 48, 50 and 67 and a man aged 69.
