The Sony movie Morbius was released in theaters on April 1st, and although it didn’t set the box office on fire, it became an internet meme after its debut. In the recently announced first-window deal, the film is among the first batch of Sony films to appear on Netflix in the US, and as of September 7 is already on Netflix US and Netflix India.
Faced with numerous delays, Morbius will eventually be released in theaters on April 1, 2022.
The film is part of the Marvel Comics universe in the Spider-Man shared universe. Jared Leto, Matt Smith and Adria Arjona lead the cast, and Daniel Espinosa directs.
Here’s what you can expect from the adaptation of the so-called Living Vampire:
“Biochemist Michael Morbius tries to cure himself of a rare blood disorder, but instead inadvertently contracts a form of vampirism.”
When will Morbius be on Netflix in the United States?
Let’s start with the US, where Sony’s big new deal is effective from January 1, 2022.
The kinks of the deal for Sony’s first window are still not fully understood.
- Some Sony movies have arrived exactly 120 days after their theatrical release. This was the case with Umma and all Sony releases on Netflix India.
- Uncharted arrived 168 days after its theatrical release, will be on Netflix on September 16, 2022.
In case of Morbiusit was finally added on September 7, 2022, which is 159 days after its theatrical release (April 1).

Once Morbius is on Netflix, they will hold the film for 18 months before it goes to Disney ownership (Hulu is the most likely destination in this case). This means Morbius will head to Hulu in March 2024.
Will other regions get Netflix Morbius?
Netflix India got Morbius as part of the pay-1 window on 1 August 2022.
Beyond India, it’s hard to know which regions will get it Morbius in the future.
What we do know, however, is that many Netflix regions receive Sony movies approximately two years after their theatrical release.
Men in Black: International, for example, it hit Netflix in Canada and the UK in May 2021 after first launching in June 2019. In that case, they’ll see Morbius added in 2024
