“Memorial Day” marks a very important page in the modern history of Azerbaijan – ombudsman

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 26. ‘Memorial Day’
is a very important page in the modern history of Azerbaijan,
This is what the ombudsman of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva, told “Trend”.

She noted that the announcement on September 27 of “Commemoration
The day has a special meaning. The victory in the second Karabakh war,
which united the entire Azerbaijani people into a single force led by
to the creation of opportunities for the establishment of peace and
development of the entire region.

The reason for this victory was the Azerbaijani armed forces under
the leadership of the victorious Supreme Commander
The President of Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev, who performed great
heroism in battle. Conditions have been created for the return of
Azerbaijani internally displaced persons in their native lands, for
for which they longed for many years, and today the country is
experiencing the joy of the “Great Return”.

“May Allah rest the souls of the Azerbaijani martyrs who sacrificed themselves.”
his life in the name of restoring the territorial integrity of
Azerbaijan, I wish their families patience. Azerbaijan always will
be proud of your martyrs, the Azerbaijani people will always honor them
memory. I also want to honor the memory of civilians who stood up
martyrs as a result of grave crimes committed by Armenia,
including the memory of the dead children. Armenia must be held accountable
those crimes committed against the civilian population, for
violation of the requirements of the IV Geneva Convention”, Aliyeva
said.

She emphasized that this is a moral duty of all of Azerbaijan
cares for the families of the martyrs as well as the heroic veterans of
Azerbaijan. President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President
Mehriban Aliyeva pays special attention to the care of families
of martyrs and veterans, which is an important task for the state
structures.

“After the end of the second Karabakh war, so did Azerbaijan
expanded its activities in this direction, created a new sector
related to the protection of the rights of the families of martyrs and
war veterans. Azerbaijan pays special attention to their appeals.
Actions are being taken in the regions to provide medical and
psychological assistance to members of families of martyrs and wars
veterans, to support them,” she added.

In addition, the Azerbaijani ombudsman emphasized that from now on
from the acquisition of independence to the present day, Azerbaijan is
suffering from the politics of aggression and ethnic hatred of
Armenia. Armenia has committed many international crimes against
Azerbaijan, as military aggression, genocide, ethno
cleansing, terrorism, environmental crimes, destruction and
desecration of historical, religious, cultural monuments, mining of
territories, use of mercenaries, attacks on civilians with use
prohibited weapons.

“At the same time, during the occupation, the policy of illegal
resettlement took place in the internationally recognized
territories of Azerbaijan, Armenians from Armenia, as well as from
Lebanon and Syria were illegally settled in houses belonging to
Azerbaijanis. When, in accordance with the tripartite statement
on November 10, 2020, Armenians left the lands occupied by Azerbaijan,
and also recently when they left the Lachin villages of Zabuh and
Sus, Azerbaijan witnessed manifestations of hate politics from
Armenia. Among them – damage to flora and fauna, arson, etc
desecration of houses,” Aliyeva said.

“Azerbaijan, even in the post-ceasefire period,
suffered losses as a result of explosions of mines laid by the arm
troops. Each of these crimes is a violation of human rights and
freedoms. Many fundamental rights of the Azerbaijani people
are violated, and the requirements of international law are
not observed. The government of Azerbaijan continues to work for
inform the world community about these facts in order to bring Armenia to
justice for their crimes,” she said.

Aliyeva recalled that the ombudsman’s office made several statements
in connection with an Armenian provocation.

“The fact that the Armenian armed forces constantly carry out
provocations against Azerbaijan in the post-war period caused
serious concern. During the suppression of large-scale arm
provocation undertaken on the night of September 12 in
Directions Dashkasan, Kalbajar, Lachin, Zangilan, Azerbaijan
servicemen became martyrs, there were also wounded. In the same
two Azerbaijani civilians were injured,” she said.

Azerbaijan turned to the relevant international organizations
diplomatic representatives in connection with the large-scale
provocation carried out by Armenia. The country also turned to
the world community to respond sharply to the actions of Armenia that
threaten the establishment of fear and sustainable peace in
region.

According to Aliyeva, Armenia’s attack dealt a serious blow
threat to the life and well-being of people and disturbed many
fundamental rights. Above all, these actions are proof of
disregard of international legal norms, as well as of
the requirements of the tripartite statements signed by the Armenian Prime Minister.

In addition, Azerbaijan has repeatedly appealed to
the international community in relation to the issue of Armenia
failure to provide accurate minefield maps. The mine threat
delays the process of returning Azerbaijani citizens to their
native lands freed from occupation, and also leads to death
and harming people. However, during this time, Arm
The armed forces have repeatedly made new attempts to mine them
territories.

“Azerbaijan believes that ethnic hatred towards Azerbaijan is
behind this policy in general. The attacks of the Armenian
communities of Azerbaijani diplomatic missions abroad under
cover of “peaceful actions”, sounding of various slogans and
attempts to commit vandalism are proof of this.
Azerbaijan expressed its opinion to the international community in
connection with these attacks and also called on the parties to
the diplomatic missions of which country they are located to ensure
the safety of embassies and diplomats. Such attacks must be prevented
in accordance with the obligations assumed by host countries under
international law,” she added.

Aliyeva emphasized the importance of international support for
Azerbaijan, saying that Armenia’s military action should be strong
convicted at the time when Azerbaijan began the process of “Great
return’ and carries out comprehensive construction work on
territories destroyed during the occupation.

“So, after the second Karabakh war, many important opportunities
appeared to establish peace in the region. It was also
benefiting the Armenian country, its people. However, it is a lot
unfortunately, not only did Armenia ignore peace initiatives,
but also demonstrates its destructive intentions through multiple
provocations,” she said.

“Although the Azerbaijani people have suffered for about 30 years from
the consequences of Armenia’s occupation policy are not decisive
action was taken against him at the international level. New
reality appeared in the region, the relevant international
structures that have demonstrated a fair approach must condemn
provocations of Armenia that endanger people’s lives, and
contribute to the process of establishing peace in the south
Caucasian region. The structure of the ombudsman institution will
continue to make the necessary contribution in this direction,
which is a priority in her work,” Aliyeva said.

The Azerbaijani Ombudsman expressed hope that the leadership of Armenia
will learn from recent events and make efforts for peace
and coexistence and the international community will support
Azerbaijan in its peace efforts.
