The “Logitech Chorus” headphones for Meta Quest 2 are simply hung on the ears. The concept is known by Valve Index and HP Reverb G2 with great success because it offers high comfort with good sound.

The Valve Index and HP Reverb G2 VR headphones have been offering a free and fresh audio experience with good audio for years. Both PC VR headsets feature Valve-designed “off-ear” headsets that float freely above your ears.

This prevents the head from heating up even more when hatching under the VR headset. Apart from the somewhat weaker bass, the sound is good despite the small distance to the ears. Valve has long experimented with fine-tuning the open design.

Quest 2 owners enjoy similar comfort right from the start as sound comes standard from holes in the headband. However, the result does sound a bit thin and tinny, especially since it’s not exactly adapted to the position of the ears. Many Quest 2 users, therefore, prefer to plug their headphones into the 3.5-inch jack.

Logitech Chorus: Freedom for the ears

Alternatively, Logitech now introduces free-hanging “Chorus” earphones, which you can plug directly into one of Meta Quest 2’s three official headbands.

Once attacked, the earphones float freely in front of your ears. A swivel joint ensures the right position. Design is also open here; according to Logitech, users can expect clear and natural sound. The mechanical mute switch is a useful detail: folding the earbuds all the way back will mute the sound.

Another advantage is the USB-C pass-through. A plug connects the accessory to the USB port of the VR headset at a 90 degree angle. You can then connect the charger to the second USB port on the headphone holder. This way you can also play with the audio accessory without battery problems or connect the Oculus Link cable to your PC for virtual reality.

The headphones make the headset noticeably heavier

An important detail is that the earbuds stay firmly in place, according to Logitech. This isn’t always the case with Valve’s model. My swivels on the Index wore out pretty quickly because the heavy earbuds add quite a bit of weight. Logitech’s Quest 2 headphones also add some weight to the VR headset. In total, the Chorus system weighs 182 grams.

You can now order Logitech Chorus from the official store for around $ 100. By the way, floating headphones are not a new idea as an accessory for Meta Quest 2. There are already models from numerous other manufacturers in large online stores. Often these are products imported from China by unknown brands.
