Is Laenor Velaryon gay in House of the Dragon?

Is Laenor Velaryon gay? Episode 5 of The house of the dragon recently premiered, continuing the Targaryen saga. However, House Velaryon is a major player in the A Targaryen saga because of his ties to the dragon family.

Born to Targaryen parents Corlys and Rhaenys, Laenor is a member of House Velarion. However, House of the Dragon Episode 5 sheds light on Prince Velaryon, specifically on whether or not Laenor Velaryon is gay.

Is Laenor Velaryon gay in House of the Dragon?

Both “House of the Dragon” and “Fire and Blood” confirm that Laenor Velaryon is gay. Given that the book is told from a number of different characters’ points of view, the romantic status of Laenor and Joffrey remains a subject of speculation.

In contrast, the series establishes that the relationship is romantic, despite the fact that it has abandoned different views in favor of a linear one. To secure a marriage for his daughter and heiress Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy as an adult and Millie Alcock as a child), Viserys I (Paddy Considine) sails across a stormy sea to the Driftmark.

This highlights his eagerness to find allies for his daughter and also highlights the current power of House Velarion. Laenor’s father, Corlys, is one of the richest men in the world, and theirs is the second family in Westeros to own dragons.

While their parents discuss the details of their upcoming wedding, Laenor and Rhaenyra talk on the beach. Renira is well aware of her best friend’s sexuality because they have been close all their lives.

They will do what they have to do, and then enjoy each other’s company with their chosen partners in peace and harmony. However, not everyone agrees with this strategy, which has terrible results.

The king hosts a feast to welcome the Velarions, but during the festivities Joffrey is killed by Rhaenyra’s lover, Kristen Cole. When Laenor and Rhaenyra marry in a modest ceremony, he is devastated.

Things go a bit in a different direction in the books. Feasts and competitions continue for seven days in honor of the wedding. During the tournament, Kristen killed Joffrey and injured the princess’ new champion, Ser Harwyn Strong or Breakbones, breaking his collarbone and fracturing his elbow.

When Rhaenyra was married to Laenor, they had three children: Jakerys, Lucerys and Joffrey. Unlike their parents, they do not inherit any of the typical Velaryon traits, leading to speculation that Breakbones is their biological father. Since white actors were cast in these roles, there isn’t much room for speculation.

After the ceremony, when Laenor returned to Driftmark, the guests began to question whether or not the couple had actually married. Laenor was rumored to be dating the house sire knight, Carl Corey, during High Tide.

Who is Lenore’s boyfriend?

Sir Joffrey Longmouth, as the Knight of Kisses, is Laenor’s knight. The only real fact known about Ser Joffrey is that he is a member of House Lonmouth, which is doomed to the Baratheons in the books.

Unfortunately, the LGBTQ+ community is not well represented in the Game of Thrones series. Even if we’re not quite off to a good start, I’m hoping Laenor’s storyline will be an exception. It’s a gay romance that only lasted one episode, so maybe House of the Dragon will continue with it in a great and complicated way.

All questions about Laenor’s sexuality in House of the Dragon have been answered. Stay tuned to Twinfinite for more Game of Thrones backstory coverage, some of which is below.
