Hyundai i20 facelift spotted testing could hit the market in 2023

It would be wrong not to acknowledge the connection between Indian car owners and the Hyundai i20. The Hyundai i20 is perhaps the most loved premium hatchback offered by a non-Indian brand in India. The car (camouflaged) has been spotted testing overseas and we wonder if it will be launched in India or not.

According to recent spy shots, the heavily camouflaged Hyundai i20 facelift has been spotted somewhere in a foreign land. You can’t see much in the photo since it was taken from the back. However, we can spot ORVMs, partially visible body side panels, as well as shark fin antennas and a number plate. The rear of the car looks similar to that of the Hyundai i20. In the meantime, we wonder what the front of the car will look like. Most of the changes in the Hyundai i20 facelift model are expected to be present in the front profile.

Under the hood of the Hyundai i20 2023, we can expect a 1.5/1.2 liter petrol engine and a 1.0 liter turbo petrol engine. The diesel variants available in India may be discontinued due to emission norms.

Hyundai i20 engine specifications

The Hyundai i20 is available in petrol and diesel engine variants. The petrol engines on offer are a 1.2-litre four-cylinder NA engine and a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine. While the 1.2 liter engine offers 83 hp, the 1.0 engine offers 120 hp. On the other hand, the diesel engine is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder and offers a power of 100 hp. As reported by Autocar India, the petrol variant of the i20 is selling more than its diesel counterpart. Only 10 per cent of the sales came from the i20 and were due to the diesel variant, the report added. Hyundai i20 (3rd Generation) is currently priced between Rs 7.07 lakh and Rs 11.62 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
