Huawei is marking its return at IFA 2022 in Berlin with the global launch of its Nova 10 series and a few other products it hopes will win over some customers.
The Huawei Nova 10 smartphones are mid-range smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 778 chipset. Although this phone usually comes in a 5G version, Huawei is still unable to use Qualcomm’s 5G technology, which potential buyers will have to consider. Otherwise, these phones look and sound like very decent mid-range options.
In terms of design, both are practically identical, with almost identical specifications. Both the Nova 10 and Nova 10 Pro have curved FHD+ OLED displays with 120Hz refresh rate and 300Hz touch sample rate. The difference here is size, with the base model measuring 6.67 inches and the Pro model measuring 7.78 inches. Included in this display is a punch with a huge 60MP selfie camera capable of shooting 4K video, with an additional 8MP portrait camera on the Pro.
The main rear camera for both phones is 50MP, accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a depth sensor.
The Nova 10 has a relatively average 4,000 mAh battery, bumped up to 4,500 mAh on the Pro model. Wired charging speeds are 66W and 100W respectively.
In addition to the phones, Huawei has a new tablet with an 11-inch 2560×1600 OLED display and a 120Hz refresh rate. Depending on the model, the tablet is powered by 4G versions of the Snapdragon 888 or Snapdragon 870, with up to 512GB of internal storage. Both versions have an 8300mAh battery with 66W and 40W charging respectively.
There’s a 13MP primary sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera on the back, while there’s a 16MP video camera on the front.
Finally, the company is launching the Huawei Watch D as a “certified medical device.” The watch includes heart tracking, an SpO2 sensor, a medically certified electrocardiogram (ECG) and can even measure blood pressure, a rarity even for the best Android smartwatches.
Huawei didn’t immediately share pricing and availability details, but we’ll update this article as soon as we know more. The company is expected to host its keynote at IFA 2022 on September 3 at 10:30 a.m. (CET).
