Flipkart says ‘anomalies’ behind some canceled iPhone 13 orders

New Delhi: After some iPhone 13 buyers took to Twitter to express their frustration at not receiving their devices after placing online orders on Flipkart, the e-commerce platform on Monday said several orders have been canceled by sellers ” due to anomalies’.

Some customers have also complained that refunds are taking longer for orders placed during the ongoing “Big Billion Day” sale. Several also tweeted that they had received fake phones, although their claims could not be verified.

The company said in a statement that “a small number of orders (less than 3 percent of all orders) were canceled by sellers due to anomalies.”

“As a customer-focused e-commerce marketplace, we encourage sellers to prioritize customer orders and strive to keep customers satisfied with their services,” a company spokesperson said.

Flipkart said that nearly “70 percent of all iPhone orders placed in cities including Guntur, Gorakhpur and Siliguri were successfully delivered by sellers.”

An affected customer said in a tweet: “Pre-ordered an iPhone 13 during the Great Billion Days Sale and was eagerly awaiting delivery. The product was canceled by the seller/Flipkart without any explanation”.

Another iPhone 13 buyer said: “This order was shipped yesterday, it was supposed to be delivered today. Canceled at the last minute without my consent”.

There has been an iPhone buying frenzy during the holiday sales across the country and the iPhone 13 is among the most popular, apart from the new iPhone 14 and 14 Pro.

After introducing its next-generation products, tech giant Apple has discontinued production of older iPhones, including the iPhone 11, 12 Mini, 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max.
