Ezra Miller in Vermont pleads not guilty to burglary

In Vermont, Ezra Miller pleaded not guilty to burglary and petit larceny charges against him. On Monday morning, the 30-year-old actor appeared via video in a Bennington courtroom to be arraigned in an August incident when they were accused of stealing alcohol from a Stamford man’s home.

During the brief hearing, Miller’s attorney pleaded not guilty on their behalf to both a “charge of burglary of an inhabited dwelling” and a “minor charge of petit larceny,” according to the Bennington Banner. The judge set several ground rules for the person’s release before trial.

The Flash star can’t bother or bother Isaac B. Winokur, the homeowner, and Miller can’t go onto the property of the house they allegedly broke into while the case is pending. When the judge asked if they understood those terms, Miller replied, “I do, your honor.”

In an August press release, Vermont State Police said they were told Winoker’s home in Stamford was broken into and “several bottles of alcohol” were taken “while the owners were not there.” This happened on May 1 at 5:55 PM local time.

Police said they had “probable cause” to charge Miller with “felony burglary of an unoccupied dwelling” after reviewing surveillance footage and taking statements.

Miller was located by police on August 14 at 11:23 p.m. and told to go to the Bennington Vermont Criminal Division for a hearing.

Miller has been in the news more than once this year, including when he was arrested twice in Hawaii. After making a scene in a karaoke bar, the star was accused of hooliganism. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

In August, the Fantastic Beasts actor released a statement apologizing for his recent bad behavior and saying he was getting help for mental health issues.

“Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I suffer from complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,” Miller said in a statement at the time. “I want to apologize to everyone I have alarmed and upset with my previous behavior. I am committed to doing the work necessary to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage of my life.”
