Verdict

Dhanush’s latest films haven’t worked out at the box office and OTT space, and the actor has come up with a film that will please most audiences with some good scenes of friendship, love, emotional bonding in families, and commercial elements like quarrels. Thiru has a simple plot and is more dependent on the scenes having some good performances and chemistry between the actors. The film has some heartwarming scenes that will connect with the family audience as well.

As for the performances, Dhanush is adorable in the role of Thiru Ekambaram aka Pandu, who balanced the emotions right and entertains with her comedic timing in a few other scenes. Nitya Menen gets a meaty role with purpose to play and is just as good and natural as her previous films. Raashi Khanna and Priya Bhavani Shankar agree with their performances. Prakash Raj and Bharathiraja are good in their roles and the rest of the cast did their part in making the film.

Technically this film looks fine. The songs composed by Anirudh do not live up to his goal, even if the songs sound good, this is not the quality that can be expected of him. The Om Prakash-managed photography is fine, and just like all the other films in Sun’s image production, this film also has overly saturated colors.

Director Mithran Jawahar, who previously directed remakes of blockbuster Telugu movies in Tamil with Dhanush, has come up with a partially entertaining script and has to work a lot more on the writing to attract more audiences.

Overall, Thiru’s film is a simple drama that can be seen and enjoyed with the whole family without any hesitation.

Rating: 3/5
