Dead to me season 3, which will be the final season of the hit Netflix show, is coming to Netflix in November 2022. Here’s an updated guide to what we know so far Dead to me season 3, including what to expect from the story, who will appear, where the show is produced, and our prediction for when it will air.

For those not in the know, Dead to me is a Netflix original dark comedy series created by Liz Feldman (who signed an overall deal with Netflix following the end of season 2 of Dead to me). The series quickly became one of the most watched comedy series on Netflix after amassing an audience of over 30 million worldwide in its first season. Dead to me has also been a big draw for awards seasons, with previous seasons picking up 5 Primetime Emmys.
The soul of the series belongs to the chemistry between Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini. Together on screen they were electric, creating truly hilarious comedy and heart-wrenching drama.
Has Netflix been restarted? Dead to me for a third season?
Netflix Official Renewal Status: Renewed (Last Updated: 06/07/2020)
In just two months Dead to me season 2 premiere Netflix announced that the series would return for a third and final release on Netflix.
This should come as no surprise Dead to me has been renewed once again, the series features heavily on lists of the most popular TV series on Netflix. Notably, it topped the US charts on release.
For renewal, Christina Applegate carried over to social media to share his thoughts on the final season announcement, saying “I’m going to miss these ladies. But we thought this was the best way to connect the story of these women. Thanks to all the fans. We will return to work when it is safe.’

Fans who think the show is facing the dreaded Netflix cancellation curse should know that the show was always meant to end early and not continue for seasons and seasons. Liz Feldman said in an interview that she always imagined it wouldn’t be a “long running show”.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Feldman expanded, saying:
“I always felt like I wanted this show to be relatively short-lived. I understand the Netflix landscape. It’s very rare that they have a show that lasts five, six or seven seasons. It can happen, but it’s clearly the exception. In the middle of filming Season 2, I had an idea that felt very true to the show – and I realized that this could be a really great way to end it.”
The good news is that Liz Feldman will be sticking with Netflix for once Dead to me has concluded. She signed an overall deal, which means any new projects the creator has will come to Netflix. However, no other new projects have been announced yet.
Dead to me season 3 production status and potential release window
Writing began soon after its renewal and then took several months until the scripts were submitted to Netflix for approval.
On September 18, 2020 Liz Feldman took to Twitter to share that she pitched the third season “to my partners” and it was approved.
The tweet said:
“I just pitched the entire season 3 of Dead to Me to my partners at Netflix and they’re excited and I’m excited and I CAN’T BELIEVE THEY’RE LETTING ME TELL THIS STORY”
In October 2020, we learned that CBS Studios intended to begin filming Season 3 in January 2021. In previous interviews, it was stated that production would not begin until December 2020 at the earliest.
In January 2021, it was reported by ProductionWeekly that filming was set to begin later that month. But again, thanks to the uncertainty of the global pandemic, the dates were pushed back even further.
Filming did indeed begin on May 10, 2021 and was expected to wrap up on August 2, 2021. Lead actress Christina Applegate shared a photo of one of Dead to me chairs for all, but confirm that filming is in progress. Production was originally expected to end by September 2021.

However, in August 2021, Christina Applegate revealed that she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis a few months earlier. According to multiple sources, production was “temporarily suspended” at the time, and we haven’t heard any news regarding the show’s renewal since.
Deadline reported in December 2021 that filming resumed in 2021, but was again canceled due to several cases of COVID-19. According to Deadline, there are still three weeks of filming left until the end of 2021, which took place in early 2022.
On February 11, 2022, Diana Maria Riva posted on Instagram to announce that season 3 filming had ended (at least as far as her involvement was concerned). This told us that the production was coming to an end.
Her post came along with the following caption:
“And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the series finale for Det. Peres. I am so grateful to have been a part of this… I am so excited for all of you to see this story play out. Much love to my #DTM family!!!”
Liz Feldman confirmed on Instagram on April 26, 2022 that filming of the final season had wrapped. She posted a photo of a chair with the Dead to Me logo from Laguna Beach, California, along with the caption (edited for brevity):
“It’s the finale of Dead to Me S3! Filming is over. Editing is in progress. The final season is coming. And damn… Christina Applegate Linda Cardellini, James Marsden, Sam McCarthy, Luke Roesler, Diana Maria Riva, Brandon Scott, Susie Nakamura they all hit it out of the park. I’m so excited for you to see it.”

When will Dead to me will season 3 be released on netflix?
After years of waiting, we now know the release window for season 3 of Dead to me will appear on Netflix and has been confirmed to arrive in the fall of 2022.
Now we can go one step further and confirm this season 3 of Dead to me will arrive on Netflix in November 2022.
The exact date is under wraps, though we’d expect the show to land on Friday.

The consequences of the accident
Ben, presumably on his way to identify the body of his dead brother Steve, hits the car Jen and Judy were in at the intersection. The struggling alcoholic had been drinking whiskey and ran a stop sign.
It is unclear whether Ben even realized he had bumped into Jen and Judy, and whether or not the couple caught a glimpse of Ben before he drove off.
This will weigh heavily on Ben, who will probably turn to another bottle, especially if he thought he killed everyone in the car, not to mention he was about to identify his dead brother’s body.
Jen and Judy are conscious, but it is unclear what injuries the couple may have sustained. If the two find out that Ben was driving, we can expect a nasty confrontation between them.

Charlie finds Judy’s letter
After searching Judy’s room for some weed, Charlie finds the letter his mother, Jen, wrote for Judy.
It is not revealed if Charlie actually read the letter, but if he did, then he would have learned of Judy’s involvement in his father’s death in a hit and run. Not to mention his mother’s guilt over Steve’s murder.
Such evidence would make him innocent, as he is still a suspect in Steve’s disappearance.
Charlie has proven extremely rebellious, so he can either blackmail Judy and Jen or make their lives hell because of his father’s death.

Will Jen get caught?
Jen was ready to face the consequences of killing Steve and had confessed to Detective Perez. But after the two failed to find the body and had a heart-to-heart, Perez let her go.
Nick, who is on the case, receives a bag of evidence from Judy to incriminate Steve and Steve’s father. She had hoped that Nick could use the evidence to protect Jen, but realizing that Jen hadn’t officially confessed, she had to back down.
Charlie has the letter, Jen confesses to Perez and Steve’s body is found, there are many threads in the web that could lead to Jen’s arrest.

In an interview on the Netflix website Queue with Liz Feldman, she talked about some of the major spoilers in season two. He didn’t go into too much detail about Season 3, but did reveal the following:

We should also note that Edward Asner, who played Abe Rifkin in Season 1, sadly passed away in late 2021. In an Instagram post, Liz Feldman paid tribute, saying:
“Dear Ed. Brilliant actor. A generous contributor. The best of souls. I will be forever grateful that our paths crossed in this life.”
