Bus overturns in Odisha’s Gajapati, 23 passengers escape unharmed

Gajapati: A bus accident took place in Odisha’s Gajapati district late last night on Sunday, according to reports. Notably, as many as 23 passengers had a narrow escape after a bus they were traveling in overturned near Raising ghat under Mohana police station limits in Gajapati district.

The accident took place when the bus named Kamadhenu was traveling to Berhampur from Rayagada. Fortunately, all passengers escaped unharmed.

Earlier today in a tragic incident, at least two people were killed in a freak road accident in Kakiriguma after a hyva hit a bicycle.

According to reports, three people were returning from Deomali Hills when the incident took place. Two people were found dead by the doctors, and the other was injured and was hospitalized.

The two deceased, Rakesh Garada and Jadumani Mahanandia, were from Doliamba village under Laxmipur police limits. The person who is injured and the only survivor is Sunil Guardia.

According to the information, hyva was transporting bauxite from Kodingamali in Laxmipur to the dumping area of ​​Kakirigumma railway station. At that time three of them were returning from Deomali.

After the hyva hit the bike, three of them ended up under the wheels of the hyva. They were immediately taken to Kakirigumma Hospital and then referred to Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput. There the doctor announced the death of two.

It is to be noted that road accidents on Koraput-Rayagada National Highway No. 326 have increased.

Hundreds of trucks and hyva carrying bauxite from Kondigamali mines to dumping area at Kakirigumma railway station causing traffic jam. Due to this, the number of deaths in road traffic accidents has also increased in this area.
