Brighton and Hove Albion are reportedly keen to sell Moises Caicedo, with many of the Premier League’s top sides linked with the star midfielder.

Caicedo won’t come cheap though, with the Seagulls demanding a record fee for the midfielder, who is wanted by Arsenal. Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle.

The Ecuador international only moved to the South Coast in January 2021 and at the time of writing has made just 22 appearances for the club, scoring two goals and providing two assists.

Nevertheless, his impressive performances have caught the eye and as such Brighton are ready to cash in on the 20-year-old and have slapped a price tag of £85m on him, according to the Sunday Mirror.

Roberto de Zerbi’s side have made significant gains over the past year or so from selling their best players, with Mark Cucurella, Ben White, Yves Bissuma, Dan Byrne and Neil Maupai sold for a total of £162m.

Chelsea and Newcastle are thought to be favorites to sign Caicedo, with former Brighton boss Graham Potter now at Stamford Bridge, while Dan Ashworth, the former Seagulls technical director and the man who brought Caicedo to the Amex, now works for the Magpies.

Liverpool and United are also in the running, with both teams looking to improve their midfield depth and while Caicedo won’t come cheap, he may be seen as more affordable than Dortmund and England star Jude Bellingham.

Arsenal have previously been linked with the player but are understood to be focusing their attention on signing long-term target Youri Tielemans, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

It remains to be seen whether Leicester are willing to cash in on the Belgium international in January, who is also of interest to Newcastle, although the Gunners are in a lucrative position to sign him with Juventus cooling their interest in the 25-year-old.
