Block Assistant Engineer under Vigilance Network at Ganjam

Ganjam: Vigilant sleuths caught a block assistant engineer red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 4 thousand from a contractor here in Odisha today.

The accused has been identified as Bansidhar Parida.

As per the reports, Bansidhar is said to have demanded bribe to clear the morrum contractor’s bill, in respect of the cost of supply of morrum material which the contractor provided for road work under MGNREG scheme.

Today, however, Bansidar was caught red-handed accepting a bribe from the contractor. Meanwhile, all the tainted bribe money of Rs. 4000/- were found from the back side pocket of the trouser of the accused

After Bansidhar’s arrest, vigilante sleuths have launched an investigation into the matter to establish his possession of disproportionate assets.

According to reports, Vigilance sleuths raided 2 places of Bansidhar simultaneously.

In this regard, Berhampur Vigilance PS registered Bansidhar under Case No. 19/22 u/s 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Further investigations are underway against the accused

It should be noted that earlier this evening in a similar incident on Vigilante detectives caught A Goodwela Block Development Officer (BDO) was at the crime scene while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh 80 thousand in Balangir.
