BBC Breakfast presenter Nina Warhurst was left devastated after her dementia-stricken father failed to recognize her.
An emotional Nina, 41, took to Instagram to share her heartbreaking news about her father.

She posted a cute photo with her dad and wrote, “My dad. I missed you so much this week. Dementia means it’s here, but not here.
“Today was the first time he couldn’t put me on the spot.
“Then he pulled out a new eyeglass case. He was obviously pleased with that, but he knew it was ridiculous to be pleased with a new spectacle case.
“In some ways, he taught me to laugh. Right from the belly. And to laugh at myself.
“We all hold on to these deep-rooted relationships for as long as we can.
“Dementia is not the end. This is the beginning of a new chapter.
“So much respect for his key staff today who told me it’s all about cherishing those relationships rather than missing the ones we’ve lost.
“The staff are superstars and that means the world.”
Viewers and colleagues rushed to comment, comfort and support Nina.
The Welsh TV presenter told Gethin Jones: “Use humor as much as you can, it cancels out most bad things and keeps the relationship going.”
