Analyst Mehdi Hosseini noted that the increase in units is due to the “continuing increase in market share” and prompted Apple to increase its plans for the December quarter and second half of the year to 100 million units. , compared to the previous 88 million.
Hosseini has now estimated that Apple partners will build 52 million iPhones in the September quarter, up 12% sequentially and 8% year-over-year. The iPhone 13 continues to see strong demand, with estimates of 23.5 million builds, up from a previous estimate of 21.5 million, in part due to higher builds for the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. Builds for the iPhone 14 are charting the sill towards 23 million.
“We believe the iPhone 14 Pro / Pro Max represents 55-60% of the integrated iPhone14 [September quarter]which combined with the advantage of the iPhone13 Pro / Pro Max should help Apple with a higher mixed ASP (for iPhone), ”Hosseini wrote in a note to customers.
The analyst added that Apple will now produce 228 million iPhones in 2022, an 8% increase year-over-year.
