Another woman from Odisha staged a protest outside her in-laws’ house

Balasore: Another woman in Odisha staged a protest outside the law house on Saturday as she was not allowed to enter the house. The incident took place in Sahadevkhunta area of Odisha’s Balasore district.

The woman claims that her in-laws agreed to receive her at the police station, but when they got to the house, they closed the door on her and wouldn’t let her in.

The protesting woman has been identified as Shalini Gupta.

According to reports, the woman married Rajendra Gupta of Bank Colony in Sahadevkhunta last January this year. According to her complaint, her in-laws tortured her physically and mentally.

A few days ago, she was allegedly sent to Kolkata, to her brother. Later, her in law also threatened her not to return from Kolkata. She claims that they even threatened her that if she returned from Kolkata, they would kill her.

Accordingly, she came along with her father and mother and lodged a complaint at Sahadevkhunta police station. The matter was mutually settled and the in-laws agreed to take her to their house as she claimed. However, after reaching the home, they allegedly locked the house and went somewhere. And so the lady organized a protest in front of the house.

It should be noted that this is not the first time that a woman has protested to herself in the house of law to accept her. Earlier, at least two cases were reported from Odisha’s Ganjam district where women staged a protest outside their in-laws’ house.
