Andrews on track for third term: Newspoll

Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews is on track to win a third term for Labor, according to the latest Newspoll, as opposition leader Matthew Guy’s personal ratings plummet.

The Newspoll, published Friday night by The Weekend Australian, shows that voting in the Labor primary primary has declined slightly since the 2018 election.

Dissatisfaction with Guy’s performance has increased seven points since the last test of voter sentiment in November.

Labor holds a 56-44% lead over both sides in the latest poll taken between Monday and Thursday, compared to Labor’s 58-42% in the previous Newspoll.

At 41%, Victoria’s Labor primary vote is equal to or higher anytime before the 2014 or 2018 elections.

Mr. Andrews’ approval rate of 54% is higher than at any time before the previous two elections. His dissatisfaction rate is 41%.

Only 32% of voters are satisfied with Mr Guy’s performance versus 49% dissatisfied.

The Greens increased their primary vote to 13%.

Poll data suggests that Mr Andrews and Labor would be re-elected with a viable majority if elections are held this week.

If the latest Newspoll is repeated on election day, labor losses could be contained between three and six seats, despite Victoria being one of the most blocked communities in the world during the COVID-19 pandemic.

On the Premier League’s best score, Mr. Andrews dropped three points to 51% and Mr. Guy is unchanged at 34%.
