T Thiruvananthapuram: Union Interior Minister at the BJP SC convention in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala Amit Shah said Congress is disappearing from the country, the world is getting rid of Communist parties. If Kerala has a future, it is BJP. Interior Minister Amit Shah is on a two-day visit to Kerala. During this, he will chair the meeting of the Southern Zonal Council in the capital Thiruvananthapuram. In addition to this, he will also participate in many other programs. The Southern Zonal Council is made up of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and the Union of Puducherry territory.

According to an Interior Ministry official, the meeting will be attended by heads of ministers, ministers, chief secretaries, principal secretaries and senior officials of the member states and senior central government officials. He said river water sharing, coastal safety, connectivity, energy and other issues of common concern will be discussed at the meeting.

There are five zonal councils in the country which were established in 1957 under section 15-22 of the State Reorganization Act, 1956. The Union interior minister is the president of each of these five zonal councils and the prime minister of the host State (selected in rotation each year) is the Vice-President.
