A YouTuber tests the durability of the Apple Watch Ultra with a hammer

San Francisco: An apple Watch Ultra has been announced by the company (Apple) as the most robust and capable Apple Watch yet. Recently, TechRax, a very popular YouTube channel, tried to test the durability of the smartwatch by dropping it, placing it on a jar of nails and repeatedly smashing it with a hammer to see how durable the sapphire crystal protecting the display is.

According to MacRumors, TechRax first tested the Apple Watch Ultra by dropping it from about four feet.

The Apple Watch Ultra was left almost scratch-free, except for small dents on the titanium case. The Apple Watch Ultra was then mixed in a jar of nails and left with no visible traces again.

TechRax also tested the durability of the Apple Watch Ultra’s sapphire crystal display cover by repeatedly hitting it with a hammer.

In the test, the watch withstood repeated hammer blows until it finally cracked, and only after the table first sustained some damage.

While the Apple Watch Ultra’s display was initially undamaged, the watch failed to turn on after repeated shocks.

A failed power-on may mean that while the sapphire may not have broken to begin with, some internal components may have suffered damage.

Apple claims that the Apple Watch Ultra is the most rugged, durable and extreme Apple Watch yet, aiming to compete directly with Garmin.
