A transgender pride flag was burned outside United Parish in Brooklyn, the church says

BROOKLINE — A Brooklyn church says its transgender pride flag has been burned and destroyed. United Parish said they reported the incident, which took place on August 25, to police.

“The hatred and violence displayed on our lawn has no place in the work Jesus envisioned and God created. No act of vandalism will prevent us from expressing Christ’s love as fully as possible to overcome this kind of hatred,” the church posted on Facebook.

It shared a photo of the damaged flag and said it was committed to welcoming all people into the church, regardless of race, gender and sexual identity.
