5 men arrested for alleged rioting near Fullerton Road

SINGAPORE: Five men, between the ages of 16 and 21, were arrested for their alleged involvement in a riot, Singapore Police (SPF) announced Monday (September 26).

At around 4:45 am on Saturday, police received a call for help with a fight in the vicinity of Fullerton Road.

When the officers arrived on the scene, a 17-year-old victim was found with multiple lacerations to his head, arms, shoulders and left knee.

“He was taken to the hospital unconscious and then regained consciousness. His condition is now stable, “police said.

Through ground investigations, follow-up investigations and police cameras, the officers established the identity of the men involved and arrested them.

Four men were charged in court on Sunday of rioting.

Another man was arrested on Monday and will also be charged with riots on Wednesday.

If convicted of riots, offenders can be jailed for up to seven years and flogged.
