Apple’s next product launch is just days away, according to Bloomberg News’s Mark Gurman. Apple is about to launch new 11- and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models, codenamed J617 and J620, which include the company’s M2 chip.

It’s the first upgrade to the company’s pro tablet line in a year and a half, and the M2 chip is the biggest change. The processor will offer an almost 20% speed increase … The new iPads will look similar to last year’s pro model, bringing the same flat-edge design into its fourth year …
Apple is also working on a new entry-level tablet with a USB-C port and an iPad Pro-like design, bringing that look to another device. When it arrives, this new low-end iPad will be the most significant upgrade to that line in several years and will mark a small change in strategy – the entry-level product typically only receives annual processor updates.
As for the software, Apple plans to release iPadOS 16.1, the first iPad version of iOS 16, around the week of October 24. Development should have finished the previous week if all goes according to plan. Apple’s quarterly earnings call takes place on October 27, and the company typically launched new products in the days or weeks leading up to that report.
MacDailyNews takes: We’d love to see Apple at least preview the Smart HomePod hub for the iPad docking unit that the company is preparing. Although Apple doesn’t usually make previews long before release, in some cases, notably iPhone and Apple Watch. Obviously, there is no event planned for these new iPads, but it would make sense and likely increase sales of compatible iPads if they showed an upcoming complementary product that would make your new iPad even more valuable “early 2023”.
