Jeff Snyder thinks a new Star Wars movie could happen by 2025. despite the fact that there hasn’t been a new episode of Rise of Skywalker since 2019. The Force Awakens, the first part of the latest Star Wars trilogy, received some unfavorable reviews when it was first released in 2015. However, it was announced a new Star Wars movie and a possible release date has been given.
The upcoming Star Wars film will not be related to The Rise of Skywalker, although it is the latest to hit theaters after the sequel trilogy. The Skywalker saga, which eventually spanned three trilogies, was supposed to end with the series’ ninth episode.
However, since they could potentially appear in separate shows, characters like Kylo Ren and According to Dameron they don’t necessarily have to be done for good. Disney also did not hint at the possibility of a future Episode X.
Snyder provided some Star Wars news on The Hot Mic Show, though the Skywalker saga appears to be coming to an end. According to Snyder, the next Star Wars film, which is written by Watchmen’s Damon Lindelof and rising star Justin Britt-Gibson, will be the franchise’s next theatrical release.
It is likely to be released on December 19, 2025. Ever since I broke it, I’ve been saying that… I broke the news in March. I didn’t know that contrary to what I said before, it wasn’t certain if this guy [Lindelof] will be responsible for directing the writer’s room or composing the script. I guess I knew he was involved in some project there. So it looks like he was in charge of the writers room.
In the end, [Justin Britt-Gibson] will be collaborating on the script with Damon and yes they are [Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy] as the director of the movie from Ms. Marvel. This gift is adorable and I predict we will get it for Christmas 2025.

Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor to name a few were released, but it’s been six years since Star Wars legitimately hit theaters. After The Rise of Skywalker, Disney originally planned three more Star Wars films, the first of which was to be helmed by Game of Thrones showrunners DB Weiss and David Benioff.
The film was supposed to premiere on December 16, 2022, but was ultimately scrapped. Following this cancellation, Disney also announced a revised release schedule as a result of pandemic-related delays in its projects. The new Star Wars movies, previously pushed to December 19, 2025 and December 17, 2027, were among those changed release dates.
It will be exciting to see a new Star Wars movie that is not part of the Skywalker narrative as it reveals many unexplored plots and characters. There are several Star Wars installments between now and the next theatrical release, so those who can’t wait that long needn’t worry.
