Why Did Adidas Discontinue Yeezy? The controversy surrounding Kanye’s anti-Semitic remarks
It looks like Kanye West won’t be getting out of this trouble anytime soon. Over the past few years, Kanye West’s fans, family, and friends have witnessed Ye’s dramatic episodes.
Despite being medically diagnosed with bipolar disorder, there’s no way the world will forget him for his recent actions. After his insensitive anti-Semitic remarks, fans boycotted the rapper and brands dissed Ye.
In addition, his anti-Semitic comments do not stop and hurt the feelings of the majority of people. We all know how active Ye has been in the fashion world lately. With his partnership with Adidas, Ye ruled the fashion industry with his visionary creations.
But as good as his ideas may be, the world does not tolerate any anti-Semitic comments, even if they come from one of the most powerful people in the industry. With so much drama, Adidas has finally ended its partnership with Yeezy. But what were these remarks?
VICE later released “Motherboard” uncut and unseen footage of kanye infamous interview with Tucker Carlson’s Fox News Show, where he commented on fat-phobic opinions by commenting on singer Lizzo’s appearance.
During his conversations with Tucker, Ye spoke of “Jews” while talking about “The 12 lost tribes of Judah … which people knew as the Black race.” The conversation became even more heated when he falsely stated that the main reason behind the creation of Planned Parenthood was “control the Jewish population.”
However, he continued his anti-Semitic remarks in interviews with Chris Cuomo and Piers Morgan.
Yeh was previously suspended by major social media platforms when he tweeted that he would start a “death con 3” against the Jewish community. It was his first anti-Semitic comment. And to further clarify that this statement is not anti-Semitic, he said, “black people are jews[s] too”.
While brands and fans alike have been actively dissing Ye, he seems oblivious to the chaos he’s created following his anti-Semitic comments.
Adidas ends its partnership with Kanye West and Yeezy: The rapper loses his billionaire status
Sportswear brand Adidas is now considering whether to continue its partnership with the rapper after he shocked the world by unveiling a “White Lives Matter” t-shirt at the Adidas Paris Fashion show.
Kanye openly challenged Adidas when he spoke on the Drink Champs Podcast on October 16, saying: “I can say anti-Semitic nonsense and Adidas can’t drop me.”
Now Adidas and Ye have started working together for their brand Yeezy which caters to the crowd by producing an exclusive line of shoes. Yeezy is truly one of the the most premium brands the world has come to know when it comes to footwear.
No one should spew hate without consequence – not even the rich and famous.
Kudos to the brands that ended their partnerships with Kanye, showing the world that anti-Semitism and bigotry are wrong. https://t.co/Z21AMmpRx1

The partnership began in 2013 and Yeezy contributed greatly to Ye’s billionaire status. The brand created revolutionary fashion products that benefited both Kanye and Adidas.
However, Adidas had to put the status of its partnership with Ye “under review” after the rapper performed his “White Lives Matter” stunt, which received huge criticism. Even Ye was seen wearing a T-shirt with the same message written on it. Adidas has yet to come out with a firm decision, but as soon as his anti-Semitic remarks surfaced, the brand ensured that it would have no ties to Ye.
A campaign against anti-Semitism was created through the Change.org petition to call on Adidas to cut all ties with Kanye. By Tuesday morning, the petition had received over 169,100 signatures, and apparently fans didn’t want the brand to represent someone so problematic.
I applaud the companies that oppose Yeh’s white nationalist-inspired and anti-Semitic hate speech by abandoning him and his companies. The statement that “slavery was a choice” should have been enough. I encourage others who are affiliated with Ye to cut them off now as well. Words matter. https://t.co/dN8ZRlagGA

So on Tuesday, the sportswear brand received a statement saying Adidas “does not tolerate anti-Semitism and any other kind of hate speech”. Adidas further stated that Kanye’s comments were “unacceptable, hateful and dangerous” and does not match the “ of the brandvalues of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness.”
As a result, Adidas ended the brand’s partnership with Kanye and even significantly reduced his net worth. The rapper is no longer a billionaire after losing this deal and this decision has also affected Adidas in terms of business.
However, Adidas’ actions were appreciated by the crowd and send a clear message that society will not tolerate any bigotry and anti-Semitism.

Kanye West’s net worth is slowly declining and he has no chance to repair the damage he has done so soon. Kanye’s departure from Adidas was never something that people took for granted, as it was one of the most successful partnerships between a “non-athlete and a sportswear brand”. But in this modern society we have to respect each other and Adidas has proved it again.
Adidas’ decision to stop working with Kanye West is just the latest in the artist’s recent string of controversial actions in public. The rapper, who goes by the name Ye, and his attacks on Jews angered many people.
