Turkey prices rise for restaurant owners as bird flu affects supply

AUSTIN (Austin Business Journal) – This year for Thanksgiving, some families may wrap the mashed potatoes, green beans and cranberry sauce around a breast instead of a turkey, as bird flu has already killed more than 6 million of the animals.or about 3% of the country’s turkey population.

Not every restaurant that serves turkey is struggling to get enough meat, but this year has proved problematic on more than one front for the industry. Terry Black’s BBQ has historically offered turkey breast for the holiday, while Smokey Mo’s BBQ does the whole bird.

Regardless of the method, some people will skip the turkey.
