Tia Mowry talks about setting ‘boundaries’ before announcing divorce

Tia Mowry has been focused on the importance of setting “boundaries” in the days leading up to her announcement that she and Corey Hardrict are divorcing.

While walking the red carpet for Variety’s Power of Women event on Sept. 28, the “Sister, Sister” alum opened up about how making changes has allowed her to “shine.”

“You know what it is, it’s self-love. I really, really focus on setting boundaries,” she told Access Hollywood. “I’m 40 years old and I’m just learning [how hard it can be]. All you ladies, no matter how old you are, start now! It really gave me peace and joy.”

Mowry, 44, announced on social media Tuesday that she and the “All American: Homecoming” actor, 42, have decided to separate after 14 years of marriage and two children: son Cree, 11, and daughter Cairo, 4 .

“These decisions are never easy and not without sadness. We will continue our friendship as we parent our beautiful children,” she wrote next to an old black and white photo of the couple.

“I’m grateful for all the happy times we’ve had together and want to thank my friends, family and fans for your love and support as we start this new chapter forward in our lives.”

Mowry filed for divorce from Hardrith hours before her Instagram post, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split, according to court documents obtained by Page Six.

She requested joint physical and legal custody of their children and noted that they had a prenuptial agreement.

Mowry and Hardrict met as students at Pepperdine University in Los Angeles before marrying in April 2008.
