Given the recent events of the program, speculation about a season 2 of “The Patient” is a thin thread. The sitcom was developed by Joel Fields and Joe Weisberg and produced by Fields, Weisberg, Steve Carell, Caroline Moore, Victor Hsu and Chris Long for Hulu’s FX. This series is a joint effort of Joel Fields Productions, Flim Flam and FXP.
Several fans were surprised by the shocking conclusion of the series, which aired on October 25, 2022. Due to the way the show ended, many viewers had mixed feelings. We saw Alan try to influence Sam and turn him into a more sensitive person, but his efforts were ultimately fruitless.

The ten episodes of the psychological thriller are between twenty and thirty minutes long each.
Patient story
The Patient, a new series from the creators of The Americans, premieres on Hulu and is produced by the FX network. Sam, a serial killer who appears in the TV series Patient, kidnaps Dr. Alan Strauss because he believes the psychiatrist can help him.
Alan and Sam are in dangerous circumstances and the conversation that follows is awkward as they get to know each other. Can Alan stop Sam from killing once more?
Interesting events occur in the patient’s plot. The main character (Steve Carell) works as a psychiatrist and is taken in by one of his patients so he can finally have someone to talk to about his deepest, darkest secrets. Part of the main character’s history is revealed, and with that comes the opportunity to reveal character flaws and experiences that he clearly hasn’t dealt with.
As time passes, it becomes less obvious who the patient is meant to be: the therapist or the patient.
For television, I could see this as a two-part miniseries, with each episode spanning about an hour and a half. Given the current explosion in the number of shows, creators are returning to the tried and true 23-minute format. It doesn’t do a good enough job of drawing its viewers into the story to satisfy them.
The brevity of this format makes it easy to quickly maximize ad revenue.
Will the patient have a season 2?
It remains unclear whether Alan is Sam’s final victim on the show or in his entire life. The series finale was meant to be thought-provoking, and we saw Alan’s son Ezra come to rely on treatment after his loss. However, many viewers are left wondering if a serial killer is capable of true redemption.
The creators have stated this The Patient will remain a limited series, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be a Season 2 at some point in the future.

Donal Gleeson discussed the ending of The Patient.
The series may not be renewed for a fourth season, as hinted at by comments made by Gleason in an interview. As soon as I read it, I thought, “That’s the only way this series can end. This is the best possible solution. The landing appears to have been successful. Yes, I knew they would, but my worries were far away.’
Your description of what someone like him is capable of makes me nervous. In other words, where does the skill set end? For me it was very exciting and honest and startling at the same time; revealed so much about Steve’s character and the meaning of life.
To me, they did a fantastic job of keeping all those plates spinning. I also believed they had found the answer to a problem that had been plaguing me for some time: “I don’t know the way to do that.”
One of the things Joel Fields stated was how they wanted shorter episodes. It originally aired for about four to six weeks as a one-hour program.
In another interview, when asked about the conclusion, he replied: “I think there’s a multifaceted answer to that.” To begin with, that was our initial inclination. No, not in that exact order or with those particular details, but you get the gist of the ending. It was included in the original plot summary for the show.
From there, we debated, discussed, experimented, and wrote every possible variation on the theme during its creation. These are very different variations. Unfortunately, we always went back to the original.
