The new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro will be released next year

Real change can happen somewhere else everyone is waiting for the oft-delayed launch of the upcoming MacBook Pro from Apple. Professional laptops and even the current MacBook Air should be avoided by those looking for a new MacOS laptop because Apple has something better suited for the typical user. According to LeaksApplePro, this is a third portable Mac laptop:

“The M3 or M2 will be discounted for the new 12-inch MacBook. It’s going to be a fantastic entry-level Mac that many students will find appealing, and if Apple can price it right, it’s going to sell in big numbers. I don’t know much more about this MacBook. Apple is still developing it, but I should learn more as the launch date approaches.”

As Apple completes the transition from the outdated looks of Intel-based laptops to the world of new design language and flexibility offered by Apple Silicon laptops, this could be the final brick in the company’s macOS laptop strategy.

Let’s start by looking at Apple’s options for MacOS laptops.

Using Apple Silicon has the advantage of raising the bar for the base machine. It also upset the previous balance of the Intel-powered portfolio, which was somewhat distracting. Apple resets high-end expectations with the upcoming launch of the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro laptops, and that also calls for a reevaluation of the MacBook Air.

Simply put, the MacBook Air is sufficient for everyday use. You’ll be able to run the basic office-based applications, a web browser suitable for most online tasks, and the M1 chipset has enough power for simple multimedia editing (and another twenty percent on top of that with the m2).
