The Umbrella Academy director has confirmed that he is working on the Horizon series project for Netflix.
Announced a few months ago, the series adapted from the video game Horizon manages to be extremely discreet. If only we knew the name, a priori Horizon 2074, or even the host, none other than Netflix, then we know very little about the narrative framework, much less the actors or its production. However, this last point was suddenly clarified by the interested party.
Netflix announces that it is the creator and showrunner of The Umbrella Academy, we have appointed Steve Blackman, who will be at the helm of this great new project. We had previously heard of the presence of assistant directors who had attended the boys, What we do in the shade or discovery of Star Trek, so it looks like the team is starting to fill up quickly.

For the occasion, the director takes the opportunity to reveal some details on the contents of the series and confirm that Aloy will be the main character, contrary to what is expected by the latest rumors. The frame will follow that of the first game Horizon Zero sunrise, with some series-specific subtleties. He explains :
“Horizon Zero Dawn is an exceptionally well crafted game, with beautiful characters not often seen in the ranks of the game world. Guerrilla Games has created an incredibly lush and vibrant world where man and machine are on a collision course to oblivion.
Their rescue comes in the form of a young warrior named Aloy, who has no idea she holds the key to saving the world. Yes, Aloy becomes a main character in our story. My fellow writer, Michelle Lovretta, and I are delighted to develop this amazing franchise into a series for all types of viewers.“
A future success in preparation?
At this point, we still don’t know what resources will be used to make the Horizon series a success, for fans of the series as well as for gamers at heart and fans of the franchise. However, Steve Blackman reiterates his commitment to the community and one thing is almost certain: the followers of The Umbrella Academy he shouldn’t be disappointed.
“If these series (eng Horizon and Orbital) has the same success as The Umbrella Academy, I will be very happy. But we hope to push the boundaries even further, especially when it comes to production, where we will use the latest technology available to bring these designs to the screen. It’s a huge challenge, but a challenge that really excites me. “
