The death toll from the Morby bridge collapse has reached 141, according to a police official

Morbi (Gujarat): The death toll from the collapse of a suspension bridge in Gujarat’s Morbi has risen to 141 as of Monday morning, a senior police official confirmed.

The victims were confirmed to the media by Raikot Inspector General of Police Ashok Yadav.

However, according to Minister of State for Home Affairs Harsh Sanghavi, the death toll is 132, while two people remain missing.

He also said that when the two missing persons are found, the search and rescue operations will end.

As of Monday morning, the government hospital in Morbi published a list of 99 dead, but did not mention the ages of the victims.

The tragedy unfolded on Sunday evening when about 400 people were on the Machu River suspension bridge.

A criminal complaint has been filed against the contractor and manager of the cable-stayed bridge, and the police have launched an investigation into the incident.
