‘Suspicious’ death under investigation in downtown Austin
AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department says it’s investigating a downtown death it considers “suspicious.”
APD said that at approximately 4:54 a.m., a police officer heard gunshots near the 600 block of East 7th Street, which is near Red River Street, and found a man “suffering from apparent trauma.”
Police performed life-saving measures and the man was taken to hospital, where he later died of his injuries.
APD said the homicide investigation is still very early and ongoing. Police did not identify a suspect or person of interest during a 7 a.m. briefing
The department first tweeted about the death at 6:19 a.m. Sunday.
