The The highly anticipated Willow sequel will air later this year.
It’s been 34 years since we were first introduced to the dark fantasy world, which was first seen when the movie Willow hit theaters in 1988. Willow was the first film to emerge in this universe. In the film directed by Ron Howard and adapted from a screenplay written by George Lucas, Willow (played by Warwick Davis) embarks on a heroic journey to end the evil that threatens the world.
We’ve known for some time that a Willow sequel series is in development. The first episode of the series was filmed in June 2021, however, it was only during the Star Wars Celebration on May 26, we learned that the new series will premiere on Disney Plus later this year. Production of the series began in June 2021.

Willow release date
On Wednesday, November 30, the Willow TV series will debut on Disney Plus for the first time. We currently have no information on the total number of episodes that will be included in the new series.

The new series will take place many years after the events of the first film and will follow the exploits of a different group of daring heroes in the same world.
Here’s what the official synopsis of the new series has to say about it:
“The story began with a budding wizard from a Nelwyn village and a little girl destined to unite the kingdoms, who together helped destroy an evil queen and banish the forces of darkness.
“Now, in a magical world where brownies, wizards, trolls and other mystical creatures thrive, the adventure continues as an unlikely group of heroes embark on a perilous quest to places far beyond their home, where they must face their inner demons. and unite to save their world.
Who will be chosen for Willow Drama?
It is exciting to learn this Warwick Davis will reprise his role as a farmer turned wizard in Willow’s next season, as Willow Ufgood’s character is key to the show’s success. Not only is she not the only original cast member to return, but Joanne Whalley is also set to reprise her role as Sorcha, who is now the queen.
A brand new group of intrepid explorers will also make their debut in this season’s episode. Ruby Cruz, who appeared in Mare of Easttown, she plays Princess Kit, the daughter of Madmartigan and Sorcha. Erin Kellyman, who appeared in Solo: A Star Wars Story, plays Jade, and Ellie Bamber, who appeared in The Serpent, plays Dove; the three women seek Willow’s help to save the world.
Additionally, the cast includes Rosabell Laurenti Sellers (Game of Thrones), Tony Revolori (Spider-Man: No Way Home), Amer Chadha-Patel (The Third Day), Dempsey Bryk (The Silence) and Talisa Garcia (Baptiste).
In November 2016, Disney released a fun video in which Warwick Davis introduces us to all the supporting characters from the new series as he takes us behind the scenes of the production.
Can we see Val Kilmer on the Willow TV show?
Since Warwick Davies’ return, one of the most pressing concerns about the new season is the potential participation of Val Kilmer. Kilmer had a role in the first film as Madmartigan, a disgraced knight, and was played by Kilmer.
Willow lovers will be happy to hear that Warwick Davis and executive producer Jonathan Kasdan have announced that Val will play “a major role” in the upcoming series. This is great news for Willow fans. Kasdan said the following in an interview with Yahoo Entertainment (opens in a new tab): “Val is a key part of that, and the first conversation I had when Warwick and I got the green light to do it was with Val. We felt it was important that her character had a role in the story. We wanted her to be part of the show.
Also, Davis said that “Val’s soul is really part of the show”. Since we worked on the film together, [he and I] he stayed in touch and now I can say that we are great friends and that he is an exceptional person.

He made me smile and made sure the whole process was enjoyable. “Madmartigan is still here,” he continued.

Yup! At this year’s Star Wars Celebration, a trailer for the upcoming Willow series had its world premiere; in it, we glimpse a lot of magical chaos and adventure for Willow and her friends. When the series finally airs, you can expect a lot of sword games, weird animals, and action.
