Bhubaneswar: Rainfall activity is likely to decrease across Odisha from October 11, the Regional Meteorological Centre here forecasted.
During the current month, the state has so far received 79.4 mm of rainfall which is 65% more than the normal rainfall, the Meteorological Centre said.
Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Mayurbhanj and Dhenkanal today, it predicted.
On the other hand, a fresh cyclonic circulation may form over the Bay of Bengal in the second half of this month, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted.
As per the prediction, the cyclonic circulation may form over the eastcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Andaman Sea during “week 2” (October 14 to October 20).
The forecasted system may move west-northwestwards with “low” probability (up to 33%) of further intensification.
“There is likelihood of formation of a cyclonic circulation over eastcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Andaman Sea during week 2 with low probability of it’s further intensification and westnorthwestwards movement,” the IMD said in its North Indian Ocean Extended Range Outlook for Cyclogenesis.
