Police recovered stolen bicycles, phones from accused’s possession, 2 arrested

Keonjhar: Police recovered stolen items of as many as 4 bicycles and 9 mobile phones from possession of two arrested persons in Anandapur area of ​​Keonjhar district in Odisha today.

The accused have been identified as Sishir Kumar of Luniapatna village and the others as Rajesh Kumar Prusti and Sambit Kumar Sahu.

On Thursday, Sishir was reportedly arrested by the police for stealing a mobile phone. He was sent to court later that day.

Due to local residents’ complaints of thefts in the area, the police detained Sishir for further investigation into the matter.

After grilling Sishir, the police started an investigation as per Sishir’s statement and raided the Ghata gaon area.

In the course of the operation, the police recovered a stolen scooter and a bicycle, which were stolen from the area under the Keonjhar city police limits.

Sishir also sold the stolen bicycle and scooter for Rs. 10 thousand to the owners of a mobile shop located in the area and the owners have been identified as Rajesh Kumar Prusti and Sambit Kumar Sahu.

The police seized the stolen bikes from their possession and took Rajesh and Sambit to the police station for questioning.

After questioning the duo, the police conducted additional drives at several locations, according to the duo’s statement.

Later, the police found and seized two more stolen bicycles and 9 mobile phones.

Meanwhile, Sishir appeared before the court today as his remand period expired and Sambit Rajesh was taken into custody by the police.

Police added that the duo would be sent to court for further proceedings.
